Linda Pereira on Her SJ Giants Career

Presentation Date: Tuesday, August 8, 2024

Linda was the face of the San Jose Giants during her 52 years of service. She handled season ticket holders and also was the director of player personnel, running the host family program, where she was would recruit South Bay families to take in players during the season (this program ended after COVID-19 when Major League Baseball started providing accommodations to minor-league players). She was known as the Patron Saint of the Players.

Not too many organizations have one person responsible for the players and all their needs. But Linda, indeed, was that one key person. The Giants front office response to most player concerns was “See Linda”…so if a player comes to town and needs a hotel room, ‘See Linda’; a player’s family comes into town,  ‘See Linda’; a player’s girlfriend would come into town, ‘See Linda’.

At a recent retirement ceremony for Linda, the pre-game ceremony included a video with well-wishes from the many former Managers, players, and Giant’s broadcasters Duane Kuiper and Mike Krukow. At the retirement, Linda was presented a baseball jersey emblazoned with “52”, for the many years served, and a Linda Pereira Scout Bench that was unveiled a few rows below the press box behind home plate that welcomes scouts, players, and all personnel… like Linda did so graciously for 52 years.
