Kevin Compton, Venture Capitalist, Tech Investor and Former San Jose Sharks Co-Owner

Kevin Compton has spent decades at the center of Silicon Valley’s technology and investment world, helping identify and support companies that would go on to become some of the most recognizable names in business.

Kevin is a co-founder of Radar Partners in Palo Alto. The firm has invested with more than 60 investment managers across a broad range of asset classes, including real estate, timber, private equity and distressed properties. Radar Partners also invests directly in very early-stage technology companies, continuing Kevin’s longstanding focus on venture capital. Since 2004, the firm has made several dozen direct investments.

Before co-founding Radar Partners, Kevin spent nearly 20 years as a partner at Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers, one of Silicon Valley’s most prominent venture capital firms. During his tenure, Kevin and his partners invested in many of the companies that helped shape the modern technology industry, including Google, Amazon.com, America Online, Compaq, Lotus Development, Sun Microsystems, Intuit, VeriSign, Tandem Computers, Genentech, Citrix Systems, Netscape Communications and Juniper Networks.

The scale of those companies today is remarkable. Collectively, they employ more than two million people, generate annual sales exceeding $1.2 trillion and represent trillions of dollars in public market value.

Kevin has been featured in numerous technology publications and profiled by Fortune, Forbes and Inc. His investment record has also earned him repeated recognition among the world’s leading venture capitalists. Forbes’ Midas List has named him among the top private technology investors on multiple occasions, including three appearances in the top ten.

Kevin’s interests extend well beyond investing. He enjoys spending time with his family, playing hockey and working with youth sports. His passion for athletics has also taken him into professional sports. From 2001 to 2014, Kevin was a co-owner of the NHL’s San Jose Sharks.

With a career spanning the rise of Silicon Valley, venture capital, emerging technologies and professional sports, Kevin brings a rare perspective on innovation, investing, entrepreneurship and the people behind some of the most consequential companies of our time.

We look forward to welcoming Kevin Compton as our featured luncheon speaker.
